This is a long overdue post. Sorry y’all, I’ve been busy!
NAMM is always on my mind because there is so much talk of business and what manifests over the next few months is what matters most. As always I had a blast hangin’ out with my long time friend Danny B. Harvey (guitar player for The Head Cat, 69 Cats, Rockats, Nancy Sinatra, Annie Marie Harvey). We left the NAMM compound Friday night for a rockabilly show at Don the Beachcomber in Huntington Beach. Pope Paul & The Illegals played, along with a few other local bands. I’m a huge fan of fancy tiki drinks and dancing so it was the perfect way to relax after a long day of business. I had a great conversation with Jason Burns, owner of Blast Cult– makers of stand up basses and bass guitars. His workshop, in Orange, CA, is where all of the instruments are hand crafted. We discussed collaborating on a line of official Blast Cult guitar straps. Since NAMM we’ve been working together and hope to have his strap line up for sale in the next month or so.
Annie Marie Harvey (Danny’s wife, niece of Jerry Lee Lewis and terrific musician in her own right) and Dava She Wolf (Cycle Sluts From Hell) came along with Danny and I, and we rolled through in my ’77 Camaro. I couldn’t ask for a better crew. I’m making a few vegan straps for Dava which she’s going to paint. She’ll be featured soon in our artist spotlight to promote some of her new projects- including an album with Danny- and the finished straps.
